As the saying goes, at 2-0 the next goal is always important, and Alistair Johnston stepped up to the plate in Paisley when he netted Celtic’s third in the 3-0 win over St Mirren Each of the goals scored were worthy of winning any match and the Canadian defender was delighted to get on the scoresheet as the Celts made it three wins from three in the SPFL so far. He said of the goal. ”It was important as it helped kill off the game a little bit, getting that third one made a big difference. “But again it was a really solid performance, especially in how we started the match. ‘It was really impressive and it’s just been building on how we’ve been playing throughout the entire start of the season.’ “Again there were some loose moments, especially going into half-time I think we were a little loose on the ball and the gaffer mentioned that. “But at this stage in August, how we’re looking and how we’re all very much on the same page is a good sign.”September starts next weekend with the first derby of the season as Rangers come to Celtic Park, and Johnston and his team-mates are looking forward to the event. He said: “We’re confident going into any match. “With how we’ve started this year, even throughout the pre-season, just how the guys looked I think that there is no shortage of confidence. “So that’s always a good sign. We’re all excited, it’s a massive match, obviously before the first international break and where we can see where we’re really at. “In front of our own crowd, it’ll be a fun match, everyone’s looking forward to that, and, of course, to go into that match with nine points, top of the table always fills you with a bit of extra confidence I guess you could say.”FixturesSt. Mirren Vs.
