It was a successful night for the Celtic players on the international scene last night, with five of the Hoops’ first team squad involved in victories for their national sides. At Hampden Park, Anthony Ralston and Kieran Tierney both made appearances from the bench as Scotland secured a massive three points with a 3-1 win over Greece. Steve Clarke’s side had to come back from 1-0 down to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive, and the goal which drew Scotland level came from former Celt, Ryan Christie, with Lewis Ferguson and Lyndon Dykes getting their names on the scoresheet to seal the victory. Elsewhere in Scotland’s qualifying group, Denmark hammered Belarus 6-0 with Celtic’s No. 1 Kasper Schmeichel playing the full match for the Danes. Similarly, Viljami Sinisalo also played the full match for Finland in Helsinki as they defeated Lithuania 2-1 in their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Colby Donovan played the first-half for Scotland’s Under-21 side as they racked up an emphatic 12-0 win over Gibraltar at Dens Park. Liam Scales, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Daizen Maeda, Benjamin Nygren, Sebastian Tounekti and Marcelo Saracchi will all be hoping for positive results of their own when their national sides take to the pitch over the coming days.
