It was today, 48 years ago on September 8, 1973, that Celtic took to the field against Clyde for the first home league game of the season with each of the Celts wearing No.8 on their shorts. The reason was to celebrate winning eight-in-a-row the previous season, and the 5-0 win over the Shawfield side collected the first two points on the way to winning nine-in-a-row.
