Alec McNair – the oldest ever Celt to take to the field
IT was on this day 70 years ago on November 18, 1951 that Celtic legend, Alec McNair passed away at the age of 67 in Larbert. On September 9, 1904 Alec McNair made his Celtic debut at the age of 20 in a 3-0 Glasgow Cup win over Queen’s Park after playing in a trial game more than a year earlier. He played his last game for the Hoops in April 1925 at the age of 41 years and 113 days, making him the oldest player ever to represent Celtic – a record he still holds.
