Alistair Johnston: We’re prepared for Aberdeen visit

Should Alistair Johnston appear on the pitch with his team-mates on Tuesday night, it will be the for the 1ooth time as a Celtic player since joining from CF Montreal a little over two years ago and making his debut in January, 2003. In that short time he has played his part in winning each of the domestic trophies twice, and he is keen to take his current total of six winner’s medals to eight by the end of the term. There have been relatively few defeats for the champions, but one did come in the Canadian’s 99th game when the Celts went down to Hibernian at Easter Road on Saturday, and that’s a scenario he and his team-mates will be going all-out to avoid when Aberdeen visit tomorrow. Johnston said of Aberdeen: “They’re another team similar to Hibs in the way in that they have picked up form. Again, a really talented squad. “There’s a reason why they started off the season so well, they can go, they can beat anyone home or away. ‘So we’re expecting a difficult match against another team that is picking up form, so we are going to be prepared for that.’ “We know that it’s a big match for them and obviously it’s a big match for us coming back from the defeat at the weekend.”The Aberdeen match comes amid yet another action-packed week for the Celts with a game against St Mirren looming at the end of the week in Paisley. However, as usual, the focus, and indeed re-focus following Easter Road, will be fully on the task in hand against the Pittodrie side. The defender said: “It’s super-important, it’s what we touched on. It’s good in a way that there so many matches, that there is focus on the next one day after day. “There’s no real time to dwell on things and it gives us an opportunity to get right back out there and right the wrongs to a degree. “So there’s excitement from the group that we get another chance to go out there, and this is a big week for us obviously with three matches. “It’s the last midweek match before the split, we have one more after the split normally, so, after this the schedule for us gets a little bit slower in a one-match kind of a week, so this is a big push here to get through the period just now. “We’ve got the squad for it, and hopefully at Celtic Park on a midweek evening game – we know they’re pretty good – so we’re expecting a big turnout from the crowd and hopefully a bit turnout from us as well.
