Amy Gallacher: We’re aiming to perform well for the fans

After scoring a crucial equaliser during Wednesday’s dramatic late victory over Hearts, Amy Gallacher will be looking to have another goalscoring impact this weekend, as the Ghirls travel to take on Glasgow City. The forward enjoyed a strong month in April, scoring two important goals, including a levelled in the Glasgow derby against Rangers. With their third game of the week on the horizon this Sunday, Gallacher and her team-mates are eyeing up a third win on the bounce. Speaking to the media to preview the visit to Petershill Park, the Celtic number seven reflected on the Hoops’ performance in midweek. The forward believes that result has given the entire squad a boost, with another important three points up for grabs. Talking about her goal, Amy Gallacher said: “It just landed perfectly for me just to hit. Maybe on another day it could go into Row Z. ‘But thankfully it went into the top corner of the net.’ “I think it was a moment that we needed, being able to get that win against a top five team. “You could see how much it meant to the squad with the celebrations. So I’d say it definitely gave us a boost in the changing room.”Kicking off the second round of split fixtures on Wednesday night with a win over Hearts, there was plenty to be positive about following Maria McAneny’s late winner. With four games remaining, Gallacher is now looking forward to building upon that result as the Ghirls look to take three points away from Petershill Park. This Sunday’s meeting will be the sixth between the sides this season, and Gallacher insists the Hoops are confident of nullifying Glasgow City’s threats. “We’re going to take it each game as it comes,” she said. “We want to try and perform well for the fans and try to win every game. “Obviously, we would like to be higher up the table than we are. At a club like Celtic, whoever we are playing there is always pressure to win. ‘I think as a squad, we always put pressure on ourselves, so that doesn’t change.’ “But there are still four games left, and you never know what will happen. So we’re aiming to get all three points this Sunday.” “We’ve obviously played Glasgow City a lot. They’ve got good players, and the games we’ve played against them have been very close. “We will just be looking to nullify their threats going forward and try play as good football as we can in order to win the game.”FixturesGlasgow City Women Vs.
