Celtic FC Foundation raised an astounding net total in the region of £420K at its sixth annual fundraising Gala Dinner in London last night (Friday). Over 130 guests were in attendance, including current and former Celtic Managers, Brendan Rodgers, and Martin O’Neill, at this intimate gathering in the stunning Four Seasons Hotel London at Tower Bridge. Celtic icon Chris Sutton and lifelong Hoops fan and former TV broadcaster, Bernard Ponsonby, were co-hosts for the evening and we were also joined by former Celts Roy Aitken, Stiliyan Petrov and Kieran Tierney, as well as the one and only Sir Rod Stewart. The evening kicked off with a video piece featuring thework of the Foundation, followed by a vote of thanks from Chief Executive, Tony Hamilton. Then Bernard Ponsonby invited Celtic Manager, Brendan Rodgers to join him on stage for a Q&A in which he shared the standout memories from his managerial career and his hopes and ambitions for the future. Next up, was a stunning set from Tony Hadley, formerly of Spandau Ballet, who entertained the room with some classic hits, all in his distinctive style. Throughout the meal, guests were also treated to live music from the fantastic Troubadours, who made their way around the tables, providing their own unique brand of entertainment. After dessert, Chris Sutton welcomed former Celtic Manager, Martin O’Neill to the stage, as he regaled our guests with stories from his tenure at the Club. Just before the Live Auction, Celtic FC Foundation project participant, Liam Kenny, shared his very powerful and emotional journey and the huge impact the Foundation has made in his life. It was an incredibly inspiring few minutes, with Liam receiving a standing ovation as he left the stage. The Live Auction contained a total of eight outstanding prizes and these were complemented by a further 22 in the Silent Auction. The formal proceedings were then rounded off by a live set from Johnny Mac and the Faithful, who had every guest on their feet and ensured the evening ended on a massive high. Funds raised will support a variety of Foundation initiatives including Paradise Pit Stop in Glasgow and Community Games in both London and Ireland. Tony Hamilton, Celtic FC Foundation Chief Executive said: “Our sixth event in London was another incredible night, not just for raising funds for future initiatives but also for showcasing the impact of the Foundation in London, Glasgow and further afield. “The phenomenal amount raised reflects the generosity of everyone in the room, including our sponsors Danny O’Neill and Radisson Red Glasgow. “We would like to thank all table holders and guests, Brendan Rodgers, Martin O’Neill, Roy Aitken, Stiliyan Petrov, Kieran Tierney, all those who donated prizes for the auctions and items for the gift bags, The Troubadours, Tony Hadley, Johnny Mac and the Faithful, our auction host, Des McKeown and our two co-hosts, Bernard Ponsonby and Chris Sutton.” To register your interest in our 2025 London Gala Dinner, please email [email protected] or call 0141 551 4321.
