Auston Meets Jamie: Celtic FC Foundation celebrates 15 Years of Ability Counts

Celtic FC Foundation is proud to announce its support for the SPFL, SWPL, and SPFL Trust’s latest ‘UNITED: Football in the Community’ campaign. The nationwide initiative celebrates the vital work of football clubs and their associated community trusts across the Scottish game. To mark the launch of the campaign, Celtic FC Foundation, the charitable arm of Celtic FC, were delighted to host a very special surprise at Celtic Park for one of our long-standing participants. Ability Counts, one of the Foundation’s flagship projects was launched 15 years ago and is designed to support children and people living with a range of both physical and learning disabilities. The project uses the power of football to provide a sense of belonging, improve physical health, and develop social skills in a safe and inclusive environment. For many of our participants, these weekly sessions are more than just sport, they are a vital lifeline for social connection and personal growth. One such participant is Jamie; a dedicated and much-loved member of the Ability Counts family. Jamie has shown incredible commitment to the project over the past decade, embodying the spirit of the Foundation through his enthusiasm and teamwork. To reward his hard work, Jamie was invited to a “behind-the-scenes” tour of Paradise. However, unknown to him, there was a special surprise waiting in the home dressing room. Jamie was stunned when his favourite Celtic player, Auston Trusty, was sat waiting to spend time with him, talk about how well he’d been doing at the Ability Counts, and what it’s like to play for the badge. The meeting was a powerful reminder of the unique bond between the club, Foundation, and the supporters who make our community so special.
