It was a disappointing afternoon for Celtic as they lost 2-1 to Hearts at Tynecastle, a result which opens up an eight-point gap between the sides at the top of the Premiership table. The home side took an early lead through a Dane Murray own goal, which was quickly cancelled out by Callum McGregor. But two further goals for Hearts early in the second half ultimately delivered a win for the Edinburgh side. Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, Brendan Rodgers said: “It was a disappointing result and performance. We got off to a poor start with the own goal but fought our way back in and scored a really good goal. “We had a chance to go 2-1 up going in at half-time, and then, sadly for us, the start to the second-half we gave away two poor goals. We’ve got to move our line quicker up the pitch and we didn’t do that, but then we’re not determined enough to stop the shot coming in. “That’s something we spoke about before the game but it didn’t quite happen for us and went 2-1 down, and then made another mistake for the penalty.“So all of a sudden you’re 3-1 down and needing to show that creativity, and that’s obviously something we didn’t show enough of once we were behind. “The two quick goals probably can rock you a bit, especially at this stadium when it gets up for it, but we still had enough time and we had enough of the ball to create more opportunities. “I just felt it was a game that, if you control all the basics of the game, the first ball, the second ball, get your blocks in and do all of those things that isn’t about talent, and then show your talent when you have the ball, and probably on both sides of that we weren’t at our best. “There was enough endeavour and enough work but to win the game today we needed to be much better and cleaner on the ball. “We have to get in and recover, physically and mentally, and the beauty of this period is that it’s a very quick turnaround so we’re at home (Falkirk on Wednesday), we love to play at home but we have to show a greater level than we did today.”FixturesHeart of Midlothian Vs.
