Callum McGregor believes Celtic can cause problems for Europa League winners Atalanta tomorrow night (Wednesday), but stresses the importance of the squad staying united. Speaking to the media in Bergamo as Celtic prepared for matchday three of the UEFA Champions League, McGregor expressed confidence in the Hoops’ ability to secure their first victory on Italian soil since 2019, when Olivier Ntcham’s late goal earned a famous win against Lazio in the Europa League. The Celtic captain highlighted the need for the team to remain resolute and work together against the in-form Italian side. He said: “That’s the challenge for the group – to stand up in those moments and control the game without the ball, as well as with it. “At this level, you’ve got to be good at both aspects of the game. We need to be together, be resolute.’ “And when we get the ball, we know we can cause them problems.”Reflecting on Celtic’s previous Champions League outing – a difficult night against Borussia Dortmund – McGregor spoke about the importance of maintaining belief in the team’s quality despite setbacks. He said: “It was a difficult night last time out, but we can’t lose belief that we are a good side. “We know we are a good team, but at this level, you can get punished by strong opponents. ‘We’re determined to put it right. The boys are feeling good, and we’ve arrived here ready.’ “Now, it’s about producing a performance on the pitch to match that.”FixturesAtalanta Vs. Celtic – Wed, Oct 23rd 2024, 17:45
