Season 2024/25 could not have got off to a better start for Brendan Rodgers and the champions of Scotland, with five wins from five matches. Those five results have seen the Celts grab the top spot in the SPFL table and progress to the quarter-final of the League Cup, scoring 15 goals and conceding only one since the league flag was unfurled at the start of the campaign. The Hoops’ last outing saw them put three goals past Rangers as they swept them aside 3-0 in the Glasgow derby, and, speaking exclusively to Celtic TV as he reflected on the opening period of the season, Celts boss Brendan Rodgers said he was happy at the improvement he has seen in the squad since last season. “I was very pleased with the performance and the result,” Brendan said. “Going in to the game I was really looking for improvement from when we last played. “I think that was clear to me that we had done that. In the first 10 minutes, our distances and our pressing weren’t quite what I wanted them to be, but we were still strong. “We didn’t have too many issues, but then once we made that breakthrough of the goal that wasn’t, then we really took off in the game. ‘It ended up being a fantastic day for the players, the supporters and the staff.’ “I’d still like us to be more ruthless if I’m honest. In all the games we’ve scored three goals, so from an attacking perspective, we’re playing how I’d want us to be. “But there are still elements that we can be better in. We are creating really good opportunities and we can have that ruthlessness to take those and make the scoreline even greater.“Manager’s full Celtic TV interview Reflections on the Derby Win Start of the Season & Strong Defensive Record Daizen Maeda’s Derby Performance Luke McCowan’s Debut Callum McGregor’s Leadership Kyogo’s Derby Brilliance Impact of Deadline Day Signings Focus After International Break To hear the manager’s full exclusive interview, subscribe to Celtic TV.
