Brendan Rodgers says the recent international break has provided valuable time for reflection, recovery and preparation ahead of what promises to be another demanding spell for the Hoops. The Celtic manager welcomed the opportunity to reset, explaining that while some players have been away on international duty, others have made the most of the break to build fitness and sharpen up at Lennoxtown. âI think itâs always a good opportunity,â the manager said. âOver the course of the international break, some of our younger players have been able to get minutes and games, while others have used the time to work on their football fitness. âItâs also important to have that period of rest when youâve just come off the back of a hectic schedule and are preparing for another one. Not everyone is back yet, but the players who are will start to reintroduce themselves over the next few days. âThe ability to reset is whatâs most important.â âComing off the back of a really good win (against Motherwell) allows you to reflect, refocus your goals and reinforce the importance of hard work for whatâs ahead.â With a busy month of fixtures to come before the next international break, the manager says the focus is on maintaining results while building momentum and consistency. âI think itâs just going to take time, but while youâre waiting for that, you still have to win games,â he added. âWeâve shown glimpses of what we want, but not consistently enough. That said, the team is still winning domestically, and thatâs very important. âIt really typifies the mentality within the group. Weâve already had late winners this season, and that shows the spirit and togetherness we have. The push we get from the supporters really galvanises the players, this is a team that goes right to the very end.âThere was also a welcome update on Alistair Johnston, who has returned to training after injury. Rodgers praised the Canadianâs importance to the side while highlighting the impact of those who stepped in during his absence. âHeâs obviously a big loss, having someone of that quality out is always a blow,â said the manager. âBut itâs allowed us to give opportunities to young Colby Donovan, whoâs done very, very well, and to Anthony Ralston, whoâs always a reliable and capable player for the club. âThereâs no doubt Alistair has been a pivotal part of the team for a number of years. The power and balance he brings, both offensively and defensively, are very important for us. Itâs great to see him back on the pitch and showing that strength again in training.â Looking ahead to a packed domestic and European calendar with crunch games against Hearts and Rangers likely circled for significance, the Irishman called on the squad and supporters alike to relish what lies ahead. âLetâs embrace all the challenges that come our way, both domestically and in Europe,â he said. âItâs a really exciting period, this is what Celtic is all about. Playing in big games and testing ourselves on the biggest stage. âThat collective spirit and togetherness are at the heart of what we do. Weâre excited for the games ahead, ready to face every challenge, and determined to do it together, everyone fighting for the same cause.â And when asked about Scott Brownâs recent red card in a Legends match in Rotterdam against Feyenoord, the manager couldnât help but smile. âIâve just seen the headline,â he said. âHeâs still super competitive, even though heâs been finished playing for a few years. Heâll never lose that edge. Heâs a great guy and was an amazing servant for Celtic, itâs good to see he still has those competitive juices flowing.â Watch the full interview with Brendan Rodgers now on Celtic TV.FixturesDundee Vs.
