Hibs today come to Celtic Park in the League Cup. There are numerous connections between the two clubs in this competition. The Scottish League Cup was first held in season 1946-47. It grew out of a wartime contest, the Southern League Cup. Hibs were Celtic’s first official opponents in the competition (on 21 September 1946).
