Scotland is preparing for the visit of Oasis over the coming days, as the Manchester music icons get set to take to the stage at a sold-out Murrayfield on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday. The legendary group have already hit the headlines for their gigs in Cardiff, Manchester and London on their tour so far, with Edinburgh the next city set to be taken over by the sound of the Gallagher brothers and their catalogue of timeless hits. Ahead of the start of band’s tour, the Celtic View spoke to Brian Cannon, the man who designed Oasis’ original logo and all of their album artwork through the band’s halcyon days in the 1990s. Cannon, the band’s graphic designer, was, in Noel Gallagher’s words, ‘the sixth member’ of Oasis, and speaking to the Celtic View, the logo designer reflected on the band’s rapid rise to fame and the significance of their recent reunion. He said: “That early to mid-90s version of Oasis was just beyond belief brilliant. They deserved all the accolades and success that they got. “They knew that, so they couldn’t care less whether some music reporter or journalist didn’t like them. The whole creative process was controlled by them.“I didn’t know anything about the reunion until it was announced. Noel told me that only eight people in the world knew about it. “The response has been amazing. Anything that makes so many people so happy has got to be a good thing. “There’s never been anything like it before and there’ll never be anything like it again. “There’s nothing to compare it to because there’s never been a band of this magnitude who have done this.” You can read Brian Cannon’s full interview in the brand new Celtic View, which is out now. ORDER THE CELTIC VIEW There are plenty of other exclusive music interviews, including chats with Brooke Combe, Mani from The Stone Roses and Stuart Brathwaite from the band, Mogwai.
