Celtic Park played host to an unforgettable event today as a group of season ticket holders with sensory impairments were welcomed to the stadium for the annual ‘Touching the Trophies’ experience. The event gave blind and partially sighted supporters and those with additional sensory impairments the rare opportunity to physically engage with Celtic’s silverware, including the Scottish Premiership and League Cup trophies. Held in the Celtic Park Boardroom, the afternoon was filled with emotion, connection and pride as fans explored the Club’s rich history in a tactile, sensory-friendly environment. Visually impaired season ticket holder Gerry McColgan said: “It is hard to put into words how I felt when allowed to make contact with the trophies. “As a lifelong Celtic supporter who is now partially sighted, it lifted my spirits and boosted my pride to be a supporter of this wonderful Club”. A special guest in attendance was James Forrest, Celtic’s most decorated player, who took time to meet each of the supporters, pose for photographs, and share in their joy. With an incredible 26 major honours to his name, Forrest spoke of the importance of ensuring all supporters feel part of the Celtic story. James said: “It was a privilege to be part of such a meaningful event. “Seeing what this means to the supporters and being able to connect with them in this way is what Celtic is all about. It was a really special day.” The initiative forms part of the Club’s ongoing work to champion accessibility and inclusion for all supporters. Delivered by Celtic’s Disability Access Team, the event was designed to be welcoming, safe and inclusive for fans who experience the match days in different ways. Celtic’s Disability Access Officer Alexis Dobbin added: “Today’s event was all about removing barriers and making sure everyone can feel the pride at being part of the Celtic family. “It was heart-warming to see so many smiles and to hear what it meant to our supporters.” Celtic FC continues to invest in making match days and Club experiences more accessible, with sensory packs available and access to a sensory room, trained accessibility stewards, BSL interpreters, wheelchair platforms and continued staff education and support.
