It is a sign of Celtic’s progress in Europe that there was an element of disappointment even after taking an away point in the UEFA Champions League. Brendan Rodgers’ side produced a strong performance in Croatia against Dinamo Zagreb, dominating possession without being able to break the deadlock. And speaking after the game, Callum McGregor, who made his 100th European appearance for Celtic, said: “It was a tough game. It’s always tough at this level but, again, I think we showed that defensively we were well in the game and comfortable. “We controlled possession and, if we’re being honest, we probably lacked a wee bit of quality in the final third to get the three points. But it’s still another point away from home, which is important as well. “I thought we would dominate the game in terms of the ball but there were probably a few factors in terms of the fact we never really showed that quality to break them down and get the goal. “But the positive is, we’re controlling games at this level, we look comfortable and maybe on another night with a bit more quality we can do enough to win the game but, like I said, it was a steady point.”And Greg Taylor reiterated the captain’s comments, adding: “Defensively we were pretty solid as a team, and then just in the final third we probably lacked that cutting edge that we would have liked to have the quality to win the game. “So, of course, it’s a good point away from home in the Champions League but we’d probably have liked a wee bit more. “That shows we’re building at this level. We had a lot of the ball, which normally means you want to go and create a wee bit more than we actually did but there was a lot of good control within the game.”
