Celtic claimed a solid win at Parkhead thanks to goals from Murdo MacLeod (13’) and Paul McStay (60’). MacLeod opened the scoring with a clever finish, before McStay lit up the match with a stunning 25-yard strike that brought the 16,371 crowd to their feet. Despite spells of frustration and a misfiring attack, Billy McNeill’s men stayed in control and limited Hibs to few chances. Goalkeeper Pat Bonner and defender Mark Reid impressed as Celtic kept a clean sheet and secured the points.
