The first head-to-head batch of games in the 2025/26 SWPL games will come to a conclusion this Sunday when Celtic take on top-place Glasgow City, with the opportunity to take top spot on goal difference with a win at New Douglas Park. Elena Sadiku’s team go into the game on the back of a resounding 7-1 win over Motherwell last weekend, and the Head Coach took in City’s last-gasp dramatic 6-5 aggregate win over Danish side, HB Koge in the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup in midweek Speaking ahead of this Sunday’s game, she said: “We want to play for each other, we want to make sure that we make a great performance because when we have a great performance, the result like we had against Motherwell was going to come because we have the quality. “We’re not looking too much at what Glasgow City have done in terms of playing games. We need to focus on what we can bring to the game, and we need to do that to make sure we get the best execution. ‘I know that when everybody is on the same page when we play our style of play, that’s when we are at our best.’ “We need to be aware of certain things from Glasgow City because it is a great team, but we also know how to exploit them.”And speaking about Glasgow City, the Celtic Head Coach added: “They’ve conceded the least goals in the league, they’ve been doing well there, but we also know that they are a pretty direct team. “They like to go straight to one-v-ones with progressive runs and I think that’s something we need to be aware of. But, like I said, there are things to exploit and we were focused on that  in training. “The intensity in the training has been really good, the players have taken along many good things from what we want to see in the game and I’m really pleased with what we’ve shown so far in the training, so I’m really excited for the game on Sunday.” Aside from going top, a win for the Ghirls on Sunday would mean so much more psychologically at the end of this first batch of games. The Celtic boss said: “Glasgow City is the last game because we will then have played all of the teams once. “For me, I’ve said it from the start – we’re on a journey, we have pretty much a new team, we are still building, we’re still getting to know each other and there is relationship-building on the pitch. “So I just want to see that progress, I want to see that strong belief that we have in the team, and I want to see the players fighting for each other on the pitch. “The players have done really, really well, there’s a strong togetherness as a collective, both players and staff, and we’re all looking ahead and trying to do everything that we can to make sure that we win the games.” Watch the full video to hear the Head Coach on: Amy Gallacher Chloe Logan’s loan at Motherwell Clare Goldie’s injury The women’s backroom staff Glasgow City in Europe Matchday TicketsFixturesCeltic Women Vs.
