Celtic FC Women’s boss Elena Sadiku praised her side’s performance on Friday evening as the Ghirls were held to a 2-2 draw against Glasgow City. Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, Elena Sadiku praised her squad for the way they carried out the game-plan. She said: “Obviously it finishes a draw. At half-time, we were saying we were a bit disappointed in the way we were behind because I felt like we were in control. ‘We started the game really well, and I think we created chances and kept the ball really well.’ “But obviously with how we concede the goals, it’s just things that are slightly frustrating. But at the same time, I’m very proud with how we came out in the second half and really tried to win the game. “I’m very proud with how the players took on the game-plan and focused on the task. They kept pushing and managed the game really well.”With the Hoops pushing late on for the winner, it unfortunately didn’t fall their way, with both sides being made to take home a point apiece. Despite the frustration of not being able to secure the win and jump to the top of the SWPL, it was still a positive evening for the Hoops, who maintained their place in the league. Following Friday’s game, we now head into the international break, and the Celtic boss sees that as a good opportunity for her squad to work as they gear up for a return to action against Hibernian at the beginning of March. “We have been talking about it for a bit of time, that we need to try and be that good for 90 minutes if possible,” she said. “Last game we were here, we were good for 45 minutes, and then in the second half we were poor. “Tonight, we showed that we can be good for 90 minutes, and I’m really proud of the girls and their game management. ‘Obviously we’re frustrated we didn’t win, but I’m proud with how the girls took on the second half.’ “It’s going to be a good time for us to stay and get some work on the training pitch. We have some time to work next week. “They will obviously get some days off today over the break. But once we get back that work continues and will we be fully focused on Hibs.“FixturesGlasgow City Women Vs. Celtic Women – Fri, Feb 14th 2025, 19:30
