It was a clinical and ruthless performance from Celtic FC Women on Wednesday evening as they ran out 8-0 winners against Aberdeen. The Ghirls played out their second match of 2025, and made it two wins from two, with another impressive display at New Douglas Park. A five-star first-half performance saw the Hoops race into a strong lead, before adding three second-half goals to pick up all three points. Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Head Coach, Elena Sadiku was particularly pleased with her side’s ruthless edge in front of goal as she reflected on the team’s performance. She said: “I think one of the key things to highlight is that we created so many chances to score in the game. “I felt like we had chance after chance, and that is something that we have obviously been working on. We scored eight goals, which is good. “We are trying to work on being more clinical, effective and ruthless in the penalty area. ‘Today as well, we keep that clean sheet. Aberdeen only had one shot on goal throughout the whole game, which is another good point.’ “So, it was a good performance when it comes to our defensive and attacking play. It’s always a good thing that we create chances and obviously we scored eight goals today. “But we just need to keep improving on being more clinical.”Wednesday night’s match also marked a year in the role for Sadiku, who was taking charge of her 50th competitive match as boss. It is an impressive feat to have already reached that mark as manager, with plenty of games and also history under her belt. Sadiku admitted it was the perfect way to celebrate what has been a hectic few months. She said: “I’ve said it before, I think one year is not enough, it feels like longer than that. This is also the 50th competitive game we’ve played in that time. ‘To play that many in one year, which almost means one game every week for the whole year.’ “So, it’s been intense, but I’m very honoured and very proud and really enjoying my time at Celtic.”FixturesCeltic Women Vs.
