It was back to winning ways for Celtic FC Women as they ran out 2-0 winners over Partick Thistle on Sunday afternoon. Elena Sadiku’s side quickly bounced back from last week’s disappointment, with first half goals from Amy Gallacher and Maria McAneny. It was a dominant display from the Hoops, who may have felt they could have scored more on the day. However, the most important thing was sealing all three points, and that was the message Sadiku was keen to relay. Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, she said: “It was very important to get the win. It was good to score the two goals which we did, but also keeping the clean sheet was really important. ‘It was maybe not our best performance, but we did what we needed to do.’ “I think for me, obviously we should score a few more goals. But it’s been some hard weeks for us. “It will be good to have this international break. Players who have been playing a lot, will get the chance to recover. “We have three more games before the winter break. The players who are going away, hopefully, they do really well for their country.”It took a bit of time for the Celts to grab their first goal of the game, with Gallacher opening the scoring on 27 minutes. But, a quick second followed, with McAneny extending the advantage on the half hour mark. Another important aspect of the Hoops’ display for Sadiku was keeping the clean sheet. “It was the same against Partick Thistle last time as well,” she said. “It took us some time until we got some goals. “I think in the second half, obviously, we created some chances that we can score more, so that our numbers are a bit higher. ‘But otherwise, we are in control the whole game, and that was the most important thing.’ “It was about what we did with the ball, and what we do when we lose the ball. It was really important because we knew they were going to go for transitions. “I think they create one or two half chances, but it comes from our mistakes. But otherwise, I thought it was a pretty solid performance, where we did we needed to win the game.” “We wanted to make sure that we concede less goals too, because we always create chances to score. “I think that was really important for us today (Sunday), and we need to keep building on that.”FixturesCeltic Women Vs.
