Hot on the heels of the 1-0 derby win over Glasgow City at the weekend, the Celtic Ghirls are back in action tomorrow night (Wednesday) when they take on Motherwell in Airdrie. Sunday’s victory over City came the week after the Celts’ 9-0 Flag Day win over Dundee United, but Motherwell have been no slouches either with a 5-1 win at Spartans followed by a 3-2 home win over Montrose, and the K-Park side being one of four teams with six points out of six at the top of the table. Despite the 1-0 win over perennial title challengers Glasgow City, though, Head Coach, Elena Sadiku is looking for an improvement performance-wise going into the Motherwell encounter. The Swede said: “It was most important to get the win, which we did, and the feedback after the game is something that we need to learn from, because I wasn’t really happy with the performance, especially in possession. “But what I did love was the quality of defending our own goal, and the players did really, really well, so that’s something we need to take with us as well. ‘Like I said after the game, we’re Celtic, we go into win every game, and that’s what we did, and that’s something that the players should get credit for.’ “But we also have to learn with the situation I was not happy with and that’s something that needs to be fixed for against Motherwell.” She added: “Coming to this game I feel like, yes we did win the game, but hopefully we just go out even more hungry because we were not really happy with the performance. “And I know the girls were not really happy with the performance as well, and that’s something we need to bounce back from and hopefully we get a great performance and another win with that.”As well as SWPL fixtures, the UEFA Champions League games kick in at the start of September, making for a busy schedule for the Ghirls. Sadiku said: “I just looked over the schedule and we have 18 days ahead of us, and five games and a strong squad to rotate. “And that’s something that players and people outside, they look at the next game, but I need to have an overview and see what the schedule looks like and how I can make sure that we get the best out of every player, but also the best out of every game. “And, like I said, five games in 18 days, and a strong squad, so I think many players will have some game-time.” And she is looking forward to the backing of the supporters again against Motherwell. She said: “I think it’s no secret how much I love the fans, and I love the family or the togetherness we have together with our fans. “And I think that’s something look forward to every game – showing up, trying to do what we do best, try to win and make our fans happy, because they deserve the best and we just need to try to do it every time we show up.” Order tickets onlineFixturesCeltic Women Vs.
