Elena Sadiku: The players fought really hard for each other for the victory

Celtic FC Women got back to winning ways on Sunday, running out 4-2 winners over Aberdeen at the Balmoral Stadium. With the Hoops on their travels once more, despite their dominance throughout the 90 minutes, it was a result they had to fight to make sure of all three points. Three second half goals made sure of that victory, with the Celts sealing victory with two strikes inside the final ten minutes of proceedings. Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Elena Sadiku admitted that she was pleased of her squad’s performance on the day, fighting to take home the win. That aspect of her side’s performance is one the Celtic boss was particularly happy with, insisting that the players made her proud with their display. She said: “The performance overall was really good! I think we stuck to our style of play. We created chances and defended our goal very well. “What I’m most proud of is the players response to the second half. When things maybe go against us, they kept focused and sticking to our style of play. ‘They fought really hard for each other. That is what makes me very proud after the game.’ “It’s maybe easy when things go against you that you can get frustrated or lose focus. The girls just did brilliant though. “They stuck up for each other. It almost fired them up even more. That is the pleasing part of seeing that togetherness. “We were willing to do everything for each other in order to get the win.”The games keep coming thick and fast for the Hoops as they aim to build upon that result and performance. Next weekend, Sadiku and her squad return home to New Douglas Park for another big outing against Hibernian. The Celtic Head Coach believes that if her squad continue to stick together and play the football that they know they can, the big things could come this campaign, starting with next Sunday’s match against the Edinburgh side. “We’ve been talking a lot about sticking together and focusing on the things that we can control,” she said. ‘The players are doing brilliantly with that.’ “We know how strong we are together. If we stick to what we are good at. The players know how good they are. “If we can stick together like we did today, there is great things waiting for us. So, we’re looking forward to next week now.”FixturesAberdeen Women Vs. Celtic Women – Sun, Sep 14th 2025, 16:10
