Celtic FC Women continued their strong start to the season, getting four wins from four in the SWPL with a 4-0 win over Aberdeen. The Ghirls travelled north for their first away outing of the campaign, with the long trip up to Balmoral Stadium. And after making a bright start in either half, Elena Sadiku’s side took home all three points thanks to goals from Murphy Agnew, Amy Gallacher, Jenny Smith and Mathilde Carstens. Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, the Celtic boss was happy to take home the win. However, she believes the squad could have put in a better performance on their travels. She said: “We got the victory, yes. But it was not good enough. That is something that I will need to make sure changes for the next game. ‘I said it to the girls after the game, we had too many players that didn’t show up. And that is not good enough.’ “We are about winning, but for me it’s very, very important that we stick to our standards, how I want us to play and the decision making. “The execution today just wasn’t there. We created a lot of chances and have a lot of corners. But we need to step up in those situations.”Thankfully for Sadiku and her squad, they won’t have to wait too long before they have the chance to improve upon Sunday’s game. The Hoops are quickly back in action on Friday evening as they return to the Albert Bartlett Stadium, in front of the home Celtic support. The Celtic boss insists that her side will work hard in training to go into that game in the best possible shape as they aim to continue their winning start to league action. “When we get back into training, it’s going to be of a high standard. The players know that this is Celtic. “I don’t know exactly why the performance wasn’t the best today. Against Motherwell, I think we could have scored more goals, but I think still the performance was better. “Today the decision making wasn’t good enough. I don’t know exactly what it is. But we are going to fix it and be ready against Hibs.” ‘I think it’s a good thing to have a match so quickly after the other because the players also know that they are frustrated.’ “So hopefully they’ll turn up in training and make sure they are hungry enough because it needs to be better. It’s a win yes, but we want to be better.”FixturesAberdeen Women Vs. Celtic Women – Sun, Aug 25th 2024, 13:00Celtic Women Vs. Hibernian Women – Fri, Aug 30th 2024, 19:35
