Elena Sadiku: We’re looking forward to the most exciting point in the season

This weekend kicks off the final 10 games of the SWPL season for Celtic FC Women as the Hoops travel to face Hearts this Sunday at the Oriam. It’s the first post-split fixture, and Elena Sadiku’s side are aiming to get back to winning ways and take three vital league points. Speaking to Celtic TV ahead of Sunday’s match, the Head Coach said: “We’ve reached the most exciting part of the season now, since we’ll be playing against the top six teams. “It’s all about treating each game as a final and making sure we get the best out of every match. ‘Obviously now that we’ve come to the split, all the teams are good in terms of quality and all they’ve done in the season so far.’ “The last game Hearts played, they put in a great performance and got a good result against Rangers, so we know what we’re going to be coming up against. “For us, it’s all about focusing on ourselves. We need to make sure that we are very consistent, and we are performing well in all faces in terms of defensively and offensively because we know the quality we have when we are on top. “So, the focus has just been on ourselves and how we can get the best out of our performance.”While the Hoops’ last trip to the Oriam ultimately ended in disappointment, the previous meeting between the sides had a much better outcome for the Ghirls. Running out 4-0 winners at New Douglas Park, it was a dominant display from the Celts on the night which sealed what could be an important three points come the end of the season. And Elena Sadiku is hoping her side can put in a similar performance on Sunday. “I’ve said to the girls that, for me, it’s important they feel free, brave and creative,” she explained. “The energy within the team needs to be high. ‘We need to demand and want the ball, to be the difference.’ “I think for me, in the split, we need and want to be a brave team coming out and really trying to be the best player they can be. “Last time we played Hearts, you could see that in the first half. The girls were doing what they were good at. That’s something I want to see again.”FixturesHearts Women Vs. Celtic Women – Sun, Mar 16th 2025, 16:00
