Elena Sadiku: We were really happy with our attacking play against Hamilton

Celtic FC Women continued their strong start to the 2025/26 season, by picking up their first three points at home of the campaign. Returning to New Douglas Park for the first time, it was a successful afternoon for Elena Sadiku’s side, who ran out 5-0 winners against Hamilton Accies. With five different scorers getting their names on the scoresheet, it was a pleasing afternoon for the Celtic Head Coach, who spoke to Celtic TV following her side’s win. The Swede expressed her delight at their attacking intent, with the goals coming from across the squad. She said: “Obviously, we are really happy with the attacking play in terms of how many chances we created. “We get the five goals, a clean sheet and a first win at home of the season. So, I’m really happy with that. “Naturally, we have things that we will look at and work on how to do things better. “That is going to be the biggest focus for next week when we are working at training and looking towards Partick Thistle. “I think looking at the goal scorers and the amount of players that score is obviously pleasing as a coach. ‘It shows and we know we can score in different ways with different scorers.’ “That is something we are happy with, but also want to look ahead to, in what we can do to improve and get better.”Amongst those scorers were Momo Nakao and Darra Dawson, who both opened their accounts in green and white with first goals for the club. For Momo, it has been one that has been coming since her arrival back in January, and the midfielder got that underway with a superb touch and finish. Having just kicked off her career, it was a special moment for youngster Darra Dawson, scoring her first senior goal in just her fourth appearance. The quality of both goals was not something that surprised Sadiku, who sees that from both players in training every day. Having sealed another three points, the Head Coach is now looking forward next Sunday’s outing against Partick Thistle as the Ghirls travel to Petershill Park. “Momo after the game said ‘finally’, now that she has her first goal. But that is a typical Momo goal. “You can see the technical ability and her strengths. It’s two really good touches she takes to set herself before she finishes. “And then Darra Dawson, who is obviously a youngster coming in. She has been really good in pre-season. ‘She deserves to play and came in with a lot of confidence. She has great quality and communication.’ “The finish she produces with her left foot is exactly the sort of thing she is good at. So, I was not really surprised to see that goal! “Partick Thistle and Hamilton are pretty similar in terms of the effort they put in as a team. “They make sure they do everything they can to defend their goal. So, we will be looking to push on small details to make sure we can do well against Partick Thistle. “If we do that, then we know we can put in a great performance and get a good result in that game as well.” MORE ON THE MATCH Celts down Hamilton with five-star performance – Match ReportFixturesCeltic Women Vs.
