Elena Sadiku: We’re focused on what we need to do against Partick Thistle

With an international break on the horizon, Celtic FC Women will close out their November with a home match against Partick Thistle. The Ghirls are back at New Douglas Park in SPWPL action this Sunday aiming to get back to winning ways. Last time out for Elena Sadiku’s side, it ended in narrow defeat in the Glasgow derby against Rangers. Speaking ahead of the visit of Partick Thistle on Sunday, Sadiku reflected on what the build-up to the game has been like, with the Hoops putting in the work to return to winning ways. She said: “We reflected, and we talked about it and then we closed that game on Monday. “Now, the focus has only been on Partick Thistle, but I think he players have done really well this week at bouncing back. “They have been showing that we were not happy with the result, but we have a lot of good things to bring and take away from the game. “But now, we’ve just been focusing on Partick Thistle and what we need to do to make sure that we get a great result. ‘We had a good meeting on Monday about things that we did well and also need to improve.’ “It’s landed really well in terms of the quality that we have had in training and intensity. So, the players have done well to respond to that. “Now we’re looking ahead and looking forward to Partick Thistle.”One injury concern from last Friday’s match was Morgan Cross, who was forced off in the first half of the defeat Giving an update on Cross’ injury status, it was positive news for the Celtic squad, with the winger returning to training this week. “Morgan is doing well. She has trained today, and hopefully she can train full on Saturday as well, so that she can be fit for the game on Sunday.” Following another week of work on the training pitch, the Ghirls are now ready to look to bounce back to winning ways against Thistle on Sunday. In recent weeks, there has been a change within the dugout for the Jags, with Gary Holt stepping in as new boss of the club. Whilst there will have been changes amongst the new-look Partick Thistle set up, Sadiku believes the most important thing for the Hoops will be focusing on themselves and sealing all three points. “Obviously there is a new coach, so a new energy,” Sadiku continued. “We have seen their last game against Aberdeen, and we know the small changes they have maybe done. ‘But obviously, it is pretty much the same team with the same identity.’ “I think coming into this game, we need to focus on what we did really well, but also the progress. We’ve done a lot of good things lately and we need to continue with that. “So we’re going to focus a lot on ourselves and what we need to execute really well to make sure we get a great performance and result.”FixturesCeltic Women Vs.
