Elena Sadiku: We’re really pleased with how the girls performed against Queen’s Park

Celtic FC Women booked their place in the last four of the Sky Sports Cup in style on Sunday afternoon, running out 9-1 winners over Queen’s Park. With four separate players getting a brace, it was goals galore for the Hoops, who advanced to the semi-final of the competition. It was particularly impressive first half display from the Ghirls, who found themselves seven goals ahead after the opening 45 minutes. Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Elena Sadiku reflected on her side’s display, insisting that she was pleased with the squad’s clinical edge. She said: “Before the game, we talked about the things that we did really well in our last game against Hamilton. “We didn’t manage to get goals that night, but I think the players showed today the difference in terms of creating chances but also executing well. “So, we’re really pleased with how we took on the game and how we prepared for it. ‘The players executed it really well, so we are really pleased with the performance.’ “Obviously, it’s sometimes hard to go out in the second half and keep delivering with the amount of goals we scored. “With Queen’s Park changing to a five at the back too, it makes it slightly harder. But we still created a lot of chances. “I think that is the main thing for this game, was to make sure that we are more clinical because we have a great and important game on Friday.”Following Sunday’s victory, the Ghirls now have a semi-final to look forward to, with Glasgow City, Hibs and Rangers joining them in the last four. However, that tie won’t be coming until January, with the Hoops having more league action and some important games on the horizon. Next up for Sadiku and her squad is a trip to Ibrox this Friday night as they take on Rangers in the Glasgow derby. The Swede is hopeful that will be a confidence booster for her side as they look to build upon a big performance and result. “We got the job done and into the semi-final, so now we need to focus on the rest of the games,” she said. ‘We have a semi-final in January that we are really looking forward to’ “Obviously, it’s a big confidence booster going into Friday night. We knew we can create chances, we know how to create chances, and we know we can be clinical. “So, the players should take a lot of confidence from this game. We still have things to work on; we’re still on that journey. “But it’s looking better and better. So, I’m really happy with that.”FixturesCeltic Women Vs. Queen’s Park FC – Sun, Nov 9th 2025, 12:00
