It was a busy deadline day for Elena Sadiku and her squad, as the Hoops boss made two final additions to her squad within the final few hours of the transfer window. Bringing in Emma Lawton and Morgan Cross from Partick Thistle and Motherwell respectively, the Celtic Head Coach bolstered her squad for the campaign ahead. Becoming the seventh and eighth signings of what has been a busy summer window, Sadiku would have been left buzzing with some final last-minute business. For full-back Emma Lawton, it won’t be the first time she pulls on the Green and White Hoops having come through the Academy as a youngster. Given that she didn’t make a senior appearance the first time around, the 23-year-old was delighted to make her return in a professional capacity. She said: “I’m just delighted to have signed for the club. It’s obviously such a huge club, with so much history in recent years. ‘So, to be back playing for the club again after coming through the Academy, it’s a really proud moment.’ “I was obviously here when I was younger playing for a few of the Academy age groups.“So, to think back then that I could come back here and be a full-time footballer now with Celtic, I probably would never have imagined that. “So, to be back and to say I’m a full-time footballer, it’s a very humbling moment for me and my family. “I’ve been at numerous different clubs already. Each one of those moves and time spent there has taught me loads of different things. “So, hopefully, I can continue taking all those learning points and experiences, then bring them in to Celtic this time.” In the case of Morgan Cross, the forward is of course well aware of historic club she is making the move to as she took in Paradise on deadline day. And it has been quite the journey for the 23-year-old on her way to Celtic, having spent time in America and England, before making a return to Scotland last summer. Now, Cross can’t wait to try and kick-on after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Hoops. “It’s really exciting to have made the move to Celtic on deadline day,” she explained. “I’m excited to be here.“It’s obviously been a quick turnaround, but I’m really excited to play in this team and get started. “I joined Motherwell last season in the summer. I felt I was quite unlucky at the start because I got injured in my first game unfortunately. “But I had a really great time there. I have loads to thank for everything everyone did at the club for me. “They have done so much for me, to help me get back in the Scotland under-23s squad earlier this year. ‘I really enjoyed my time there, but I’m excited for a new challenge now that I have made the move to Celtic.’ “I loved my time in America. I made so many great friends out there and developed so much as both a player and a person. “It was such a great experience and one that I will never forget.”FixturesPartick Thistle Women Vs.
