After taking away a point from the 1-1 draw against Glasgow City, there were positive to take away from the Ghirls’ display. Naturally, there were also some aspects of the game that the Hoops wouldn’t have been as pleased with. One of those being the early substitution to Emma Lawton, who was forced off after a nasty knock to the head around 30 minutes into the match. However, thankfully, the full-back has quickly recovered from what turned out to be a nasty cut on her nose. Having got back to work at Barrowfield again this week, the defender reflected on the performance from last weekend as we look ahead to Hearts on Sunday. Speaking on her knock, she said: “I’m okay! It was just a bit of a bad cut on my nose, and thankfully it wasn’t broken! So yeah, I’ll be alright. “We did well in the game. There are obviously areas that we can still improve upon and get better at. “But Glasgow City are a very good team, and I think to take away a point was good. We’ve obviously been knocking at the door though, and we want to try and get the three points. ‘So overall, I think it was a good performance, but there is still stuff that we can build on.’ “You can tell since the start of the year, the mentality maybe shift a bit. Going a goal down in a game like that obviously isn’t ideal. “But the girls showed great character to get back into the game. We pushed at the end to try and get the winner. “A great save denies us of that. So, there is definitely a different sort of mentality around the goal, which is really positive.”Having now moved on from that fixture at Petershill against Glasgow City last week, next up is a visit to the Oriam for the Hoops. Scottish Cup quarter-final action awaits with a place in the last four up for grabs as we take on the capital side this Sunday. Assessing the threats she expects from the Jambos, the defender is wary of what they have to offer going into the game. With two quick-fire meetings between the teams to come over the next two weeks, Lawton and her team-mates are strictly focused on trying to reach the semi-finals of the cup. “Obviously we played them at the start of the season, which feels like a long time ago now, and we won that game,” she said. “But I think they are a very good team. They are well organised and they will be a tough opponent. ‘But we have got good players, and we are looking forward to the challenge.’ “It’s going to be a bit different playing them two weeks in a row, with the cup first and then in the league. “But I think we are just taking it game by game and treat each match as it comes. “We’ve got our plan going into this game, and right now we are focusing on getting into the semi-finals of the cup.”FixturesHearts Women Vs.
