Funeral for Celtic author and historian, Tom Campbell

Everyone at Celtic Football Club was deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of the well-known Celtic author and historian, Tom Campbell, who has passed away at the age of 91. Tom, who emigrated from Scotland to Canada in the 1950s, combined his literary talents with his love for Celtic, and his extensive catalogue of work and passion for the club spanned across decades and continents as he helped to bring the club’s history to life for new generations of Celtic supporters. Amongst some of his best-known publications are Dreams and Songs To Sing and The Glory & The Dream, both of which were written in conjunction with his friend and fellow Celtic historian, Pat Woods, as well as Tears in Argentina: Celtic’s Quest for the World Club Championship. Tom was also a founding member of the Ottawa Celtic Supporters’ Club in Canada, and, even in his later years he was a regular attendee as the CSC gathered to watch the Hoops in action. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic Football Club are with Tom’s family and friends at this very sad time. Tom Campbell’s funeral will be held this Saturday, May 10, in Ottowa at 6.30pm (Celtic Park time). For those not able to attend in person, the remembrance will be broadcast online.
