The took place at St Joseph’s RC Church in Blantyre today (Monday) before John was taken to his final resting place at Priestfield Cemetery. The massive turnout for the Mass was a testament to the impact that John made on so many people throughout his life, both in football and as a parishioner of St Joseph’s in Blantyre. Father Martin Delaney spoke at the celebration of John’s life about the former goalkeeper’s life as a Celtic player and supporter, his proud and resolute faith and, of course, his love for his family. Celtic Football Club was represented at the Mass by members of the club’s staff, club directors, several first-team players and the management staff as well as some of John’s former Celtic team-mates. It was a fitting celebration of the life of a club great and of a man who was a friend to many as well as a wonderful family man.
