ScottishPower Women’s Premier LeagueMonday, April 6 2026New Douglas Park CELTIC…0 RANGERS…3 (Wilkinson 15, 40, 89)   Celtic FC Women suffered defeat to Rangers on Monday, losing out 3-0 in the Glasgow derby. After finding themselves two goals down at the break, a late penalty from the away side sealed defeat for the Hoops. Heading into the game, Grant Scott’s side were looking to bounce back from a disappointing result in midweek. The Celtic boss made four changes to his starting line-up, with Adelaide Gay, Hannah Luke, Amy Gallacher and Morgan Cross coming into the side. It was an end-to-end start to proceedings at New Douglas Park, with both teams looking to put their mark on their fixture. The Hoops looked to use Morgan Cross’ pace early on as she made a positive run down the right, but it was well defended by the visitors. Rangers also looked to break forward at pace, sending an early delivery into the box on the right-hand side, but it was met with a strong hand by Adelaide Gay. But it was the away side who would strike first through Katie Wilkinson, who scored on 15 minutes. The striker met the ball with her head, turning home Brogan Hay’s delivery into the area to give Rangers the early advantage. The Celts quickly looked to pull themselves back in the game, and Evie Rabjohn looked to come close to her first for Celtic. Striking a powerful effort from range, the midfielder seen the effort tipped round the post by the goalkeeper. Scott’s side also had a number of first-half set pieces, which looked like their most likely way to goal in the first half. The best chance from a corner fell to Emma Lawton, but her header on the stretch didn’t have enough on it to trouble Jenna Fife. With the match heading towards the break, the visitors grabbed what proved to be an important second. Katie Wilkinson was once again the scorer, striking home a powerful free kick from range to make the score 2-0 just before half time. Grant Scott looked to make changes in the second half to try and get his side back into the game. Momo Nakao was introduced at the break, with further changes including Chloe Craig, Shannon McGregor and Jenny Smith. The latter of the changes looked to have an instant impact, quickly getting involved the in the game. Smith worked the ball to McGregor for a cross, which in turn found Poppy Pritchard, who laid it into the path of Morgan Cross. As the winger looked to get a shot off on goal, it was blocked off by the away side, who then cleared their lines. The Celts couldn’t get themselves back into the game and were inflicted with a further blow late on as Katie Wilkinson scored from the penalty spot late on to give the away side a three-goal lead in the final minute of regular time. It was a frustrating defeat for the Hoops, who lost out in the Glasgow derby, and sit six points off top spot. The Hoops now head into the international break, with their next fixture coming later this month against Hibernian.FixturesCeltic Women Vs. Rangers Women – Mon, Apr 6th 2026, 17:10
