SWPL Sunday, September 28, 2025Links Park MONTROSE…0 CELTIC…4 (Gallacher 9, 83, Noonan 63, McGoldrick 89) Celtic FC Women returned to winning ways on Sunday afternoon, running out 4-0 winners over Montrose at Links Park. An early strike from Amy Gallacher was followed by a second in the second half for the Celtic number seven, with Saoirse Noonan and Sienna McGoldrick also adding to the scoring. Following on from a 1-1 draw against Hibernian last weekend, Elena Sadiku named two changes to her starting line-up. Aislin Streicek returned to the side, replacing the injured Natalie Ross. Whilst summer signing, Adelaide Gay came in to make her Celtic debut between the sticks in place of Lisa Rodgers. There was also a welcome return to the matchday squad for Saoirse Noonan, who was amongst the substitutes at Links Park. The Hoops made a strong start to proceedings with a number of early set piece opportunities. Although their opening game of the game didn’t come from one of those set plays, it was an Amy Gallacher header that would kick things off for the Ghirls. Emma Lawton’s pin-point delivery met the head of the Celtic number seven, who diverted the ball into the back of the net. After a promising start to the match, the Hoops continued to dominate possession as they look to maintain their goal scoring in Montrose. Despite that dominance, there wasn’t too much to shout home about in the way of chances. That being said, Celtic did have some openings, with the best arguably being a shot from Momo Nakao inside the area, which stung the palms of the Montrose goalkeeper. Heading into the second half, Celtic started things off strongly, with Kelly Clark striking the crossbar with a volley inside the opening few moments. Elena Sadiku made changes to her side just before the hour mark, and those would prove important with the introduction of Saoirse Noonan and Sienna McGoldrick. Just minutes after coming on the pitch, Noonan marked her return from injury with a goal, heading home a corner. Soon after, Amy Gallacher had a chance to add to that scoring, winning a penalty after being brought down inside the area. Stepping up to take the resulting spot-kick, Gallacher seen her effort saved as the Montrose goalkeeper denied her a second. She didn’t have to wait too long for that second though, making up for his miss from the spot with another tidy finish. With the ball being laid off on the edge, Gallacher took a touch before stroking the ball into the far bottom corner. The scoring was then rounded off by another substitute in Sienna McGoldrick, with the Academy youngster scoring her first goal for Celtic. The midfielder expertly met Amy Richardson’s cutback and was delighted to score her first senior goal for the Hoops at just 17-years-old. The second half performance is one Elena Sadiku will be hoping her side can build upon as the matches keep rolling. Next up though for the Celts, is a brief break from league duties as they travel to face Spartans in the Sky Sports Cup.FixturesMontrose Women Vs. Celtic Women – Sun, Sep 28th 2025, 13:00
