Grant Scott: The girls put in a very determined performance

It was honours even at Petershill Park on Sunday for Celtic FC Women as they held Glasgow City to a 1-1 draw. Grant Scott’s side returned to league duties yesterday, aiming to bounce back to winning ways against the league leaders. And it was an even affair between both sides, with the two teams taking home a point each from the match. After falling behind on the hour mark, Morgan Cross’ strike with 15 minutes remaining got the Ghirls back into proceedings. And it was a performance that Grant Scott came away pleased with, given the determination his squad had showcased. Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, the Head Coach reflected on taking home a point from their trip to Petershill. He said: “It was a very determined performance. The game overall maybe lacked a bit of quality from both teams. “I’d say both teams showed that quality in phases and flashes, but there maybe just wasn’t enough today. ‘That can happen when you’ve got two very good teams going head-to-head like that.’ “But a point is a point, and we will take it at this stage in the season. You never know how critical these points will be, especially at one of your closest rivals. “We came for three points, and slightly disappointed, but on the balance of play, we’ll move on and take the point away. “There’s one or two people who have asked questions now about who we are and what we are going to be like going forward. “Last week, performance wise, we were good in the game. I’ve got no doubts about the character in this team. “We asked them to show it, and we knew we’d have to come here and show it today. “You’re always going to have momentum swings in these games. So, for me, if anyone’s in any doubt, we’re a determined bunch and we’ll keep playing.”As Scott named his squad that would face Glasgow City, there were two new faces amongst the group. The deadline day additions of Maddi Wilde and Evie Rabjohn added further options to the squad. And they were thrown straight into the action, making their debut in the 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon. It was a particularly eventful debut for Wilde, who came on in the opening 45 minutes, to replace Emma Lawton. Scott was pleased to get his two new faces on the pitch for their debut, and was left happy with what they brought to the game. “We obviously had to throw Maddi in a little bit, when Emma came off,” he said. “We spoke about it at the end, sometimes that’s a good thing. “She had no time to think about it really. It was just a case of, very quick substitution and keep her right as she went through. ‘I thought for her to put in that level of performance in her first minutes for us was excellent.’ “We were desperately keen to get Evie on the pitch too. We seen both girls for the first time in the last couple of days. “They are obviously going to both bring different qualities and increase the competition in the group. “But I thought both of them did really well when they got out there today.”FixturesGlasgow City Women Vs.
