Celtic FC Women picked up their first three points of the split, after a dramatic late winner sealed a 3-2 win against Partick Thistle. The Ghirls looked to have gotten off to the perfect start three minutes into the match, before being pegged back just five minutes later. They then appeared to be heading for all three points when Maria McAneny’s effort 13 minutes from time found the net, only to be cancelled out in the final minute of regular time. However, up stepped Kelly Clark to score her second of the game, grabbing a 94th-minute winner in the process. Speaking after the game, Grant Scott was delighted to take home the win as he praised the character his squad showed. He said: “I’m really proud that we have gone right until the very end of the game. We’ve lost goals ourselves in injury-time this season and recent games. “So it was great to show we’ve got the character to keep pushing at that stage of the game. “I’m absolutely delighted for the players. I think reflecting back, we’ve got to do better in certain moments. ‘But the fact we can keep pushing until that stage in the game just shows a bit of character, and I love that in the group.’ “We need to stop losing these goals at bad periods for us, but to dust ourselves down, take the disappointment of losing that goal at the time we did, and to come back the way we did. “We applied pressure and threw bodies forward. To get that commitment from the group, it shows what they are all about.”The win over Partick Thistle rounds off what has been a busy week for the Ghirls, which has included fixture against Hibernian and Glasgow City. The Hoops have come out of that with five points from a possible nine, with the late win adding to two draws earlier in the week. The focus now turns to the Hoops’ next fixture, against Hearts on Wednesday, April 1st. “It’s a massive three points,” the manager said. “You never know, with these single points we’ve picked up or these three today, you don’t know which is going to be the most important. “You’ve just got to compile as many as you can, but it was really important after the last week. ‘Our first performance against Hibs maybe could have been better, although our second performance against Glasgow City was much, much better.’ “We probably didn’t perform so well today (Sunday). But to get the three points was our aim, and we’ve managed to do it. “It was really important, especially losing that second equaliser when we did. “So we will take it now, move on and focus on the next one against Hearts when that comes.”FixturesPartick Thistle Women Vs.
