After kicking off 2026 with a win against Hibernian last weekend, Grant Scott continued his strong start to life at Celtic by picking up his first league victory on Sunday. The Ghirls ran out 2-0 winners, with goals late in the first half coming from Irish duo Claire Walsh and Saoirse Noonan. It was another positive display from the Hoops who dominated throughout as they picked up three points on the road at K Park. Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Scott reflected on his side’s display, admitting he was pleased with their perseverance throughout. The Celtic boss was also happy to see his squad keep their patience in front of goal, striking twice late in the first half, which would ultimately be enough to see the game out. He said: “It was a tough game. It took a while for us to break Motherwell down, and I think that is credit to them for that. “We had a lot of territory and possession in the first half especially. I’m delighted the girls persevered and kept doing the things that were working for them. ‘We are delighted to come away with that result.’ “It’s key for us going forward that we have that patience in front of goal. There will be games like that, where we dominant the ball. “A game can feel too easy like that sometimes, but you can’t then default to doing strange things. “It’s a thing I’ll ask for the team a lot is to do the repetition of things that we have been working on. “It’s important to be patient because football is a tough game sometimes and Motherwell were really disciplined in their defending today. “So, I am delighted with the effort that the girls put in and to come away with a win.”After ticking off another first with his first league win as manager, Grant Scott will now look to continue his work after a strong start to life in the Celtic dugout. Next up is another first, as the Ghirls get set to return to New Douglas Park for their first home game of 2026. Naturally, there are things that Scott would like to see his side improve upon within their performance, however, he was delighted to come away with another win and is now looking forward to his first home match. “As long as we keep picking up these points and victories, we will be in good stead,” he said. “There is improvements to be made, of course. “We need to just keep working hard on many different new things and different areas where I maybe want the team to do slightly differently. ‘But I think even in the first half today, you saw the dominance that we could hold over teams.’ “There is tough games around the corner, no doubt about that. But I’m looking forward to getting back to our home ground. “Seeing what the girls do on our home pitch, hearing the home fans behind us and we can hopefully play well and put on a show for them.”FixturesMotherwell Women Vs.
