Hana Kerner: I’m enjoying being back in first team action

After returning from a long-term injury at the start of the season, Celtic FC Women’s defender, Hana Kerner, says that she is delighted to be back playing with the first team. Speaking to Celtic TV ahead of the Ghirls’ match against Motherwell tonight (Wednesday), Kerner reflected on her side’s victory over Glasgow City at the weekend and shared her excitement after completing her long road to recovery.“It’s been great,” she said. “I’ve been out for quite a while so I’m just trying to enjoy being back out there and being a bigger part of things on the field. “I’m definitely still getting my feet back under me and I still have a long way to go, but I’m starting to get some minutes. ‘It’s been really nice to be a part of the beginning of the season.’ “The past weekend was massive for us as we were really excited to get three points in a very challenging game.“I was glad to be a part of that and get back out there in to that high intensity environment.”Elena Sadiku’s side are off to a strong start this season as they look to retain the SWPL title, with tonight’s home match providing an opportunity to continue their perfect start. Speaking about the prospect of another home game and the quality of the squad, Kerner said: “We have so much depth in the squad already that I think we’ve already seen in two games.“Everyone is really eager to get back out there and keep working, and excited to face a new challenge on Wednesday.“We’re all really excited every time we get a home game. The environment that comes with that and the fans are incredible. “To be able to be at home again is just another reason we’re excited to get back out there.” Head along and cheer on the Celts for some midweek action, with tickets on sale and available to purchase online.
