Hannah Luke: I was delighted to make my Celtic debut

For any footballer, there can’t be many better feeling than making your debut for a new club. But to do that and also score your first goal is certainly rare. However, that was the case for new signing Hannah Luke, who officially became a Celt last week. Being named in the matchday squad for the first time against Aberdeen, the full-back marked that in style with a goal and an assist in her first appearance. Coming off the bench to make her debut, the left-back produced two wicked deliveries which led to two second-half goals for the Ghirls. And they proved important, with the Celts running out 4-2 winners over Aberdeen to get back to winning ways. Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, the defender expressed her delight at kicking off her Celtic career in style as she also reflected on what life has been like at Celtic so far. She said “It’s a really good feeling to mark my debut with a goal! I’ve really enjoyed being with the girls. “It was nice to get some minutes, keep settling in and to play. It’s been a long time coming. “It’s a big thing joining this club and making my debut. I’ve got a lot of family in Scotland, so it’s a big thing for them as well. ‘It’s a really proud moment to be out there and it was a great feeling being out there with the girls.’ “I’ve loved being here. Everyone has been so welcoming. They’ve made it so easy to settle in. “I’ve obviously moved up here from England. So, it’s been nice to have that feeling of settling in here quickly. I feel really good already. ‘The girls are all so buzzing with that result. Every day they are like that though, in training there is a really good atmosphere.’ “You can see that on the pitch. We want to fight for each other and it’s a really good group.”  FixturesAberdeen Women Vs. Celtic Women – Sun, Sep 14th 2025, 16:10
