If you’re a regular reader of fiction, especially series fiction, you’ve probably experienced this: you’re midway through a book series that wasn’t originally meant to be one, and suddenly it hits you. The writer must have realized they were telling a much bigger story than they had initially intended. Two examples immediately come to mind.
