It’s back to club action for Johnny Kenny after scoring in his last three domestic games for Celtic before the international break. And what a break it was for the Irish striker as he played his part in a dramatic turnaround for the Republic of Ireland as their last two games totally transformed their World Cup hopes. Speaking at Lennoxtown today, he said: “It was a surreal experience. Obviously, growing up you want to play for your country, and it was great to play in such a high magnitude game and have two massive results for the nation. “We were written off before going into it, and to score with virtually the last kick of the ball was special. “We spoke about it all week, bringing the nation together, and I think we’ve done that, and obviously it’s the same in Scotland with the whole nation being together.” As supporters of both Scotland and Ireland now try to get their breath back, club affairs are right back on the agenda and, for Celtic, that means a trip to Paisley tomorrow night for a late kick-off against St Mirren. Kenny said: “It’s a hectic schedule now for the next while so we have to keep performing and get results. ‘Since I’ve been back at Celtic I’ve been in my best form.’ “The last few games and goals are gone now, and I just have to kick on and score more. “Good or bad performances, you have to move on, because we have games every three days for maybe three months now, so you’ve no time to dwell on anything.”However, the Celtic striker is not even dwelling on his successive domestic goals against Falkirk, Rangers and Kilmarnock, or indeed, the highs of the Irish games, but he will be looking for more. He said: “It gives you a great confidence boost to be put on the pitch in those games and the goals are big bonus, so it’s been a great few weeks.” His fellow countryman, Martin O’Neill will still be in charge for the game in Paisley, and the striker added: “We didn’t know what was going to happen over the break, but we’re still delighted to have Martin and Shaun in charge. “They’ve been very good, the results have been very good, so we look forward to working with them for however long they’re here.” More on the game Martin O’Neill speaks to the media ahead of St Mirren clash – Watch here Training Gallery:
