The dust has barely settled on the weekend’s League Cup final defeat, but the Hoops find themselves right back in the thick of things with a trip to Tannadice tomorrow night (Wednesday) to take on Dundee United in SPFL action. Among the players out to put things right this midweek is Irish striker, Johnny Kenny who made an earlier than expected appearance from the bench on Sunday following Kelechi Iheanacho’s injury. And he and his team-mates are now on a mission to turn the tide for Celtic against the Tayside outfit on Wednesday night. He said: “The atmosphere on Sunday was very low, but our next challenge comes tomorrow, and, ultimately, we have to put Sunday behind us. It wasn’t good enough, but we have no time to wait, with the game three days after, so we are just focusing on tomorrow. “We spoke after the game, and that stays in-house, and we came in yesterday morning and it’s just all about Dundee United – they deserve equal respect. ‘We attack the game tomorrow – that’s the next challenge.’ “We can’t stay thinking about the cup final on Sunday, that’s gone now unfortunately, but we just need to focus on tomorrow.”The unfortunate injury to his striking team-mate on Sunday could pave the way to Kenny to repeat his run in the team that saw the Irishman net four goals in three successive domestic games and also get called up to the Ireland squad, playing his part in that historic win in Hungary. He said: “I don’t like seeing any of my team-mates being injured, as it’s a team game at the end of the day. “But hopefully it brings another opportunity for me to get a run in the side, hopefully perform, and get us back winning games and scoring goals. “If you don’t believe in yourself, I don’t think there’s any point, and I think I proved that last time that once I got in, I could score a few goals. “From tomorrow night, if I get back in, I hope to do the same. “At big clubs there is always rotation, it’s not going to be the same 11 players playing very few days, I don’t think it’s sustainable, so everyone, even the boys on the bench, we all know we are going to play a part at some stage.” He added: “When you lose games, the next thing is when is the next game? You want to put it right, and obviously that’s tomorrow night, so it’s up to us to do that. “We have big leaders in the dressing room, and this club is built on success, so losing games isn’t natural but we all keep together and focus on the next game, and that’s why this club has been so successful.” More on the game: Training Gallery: Dundee United v Celtic Keep up to date with the action in our official Match Centre Celtic FC Quiz: Dundee United v CelticFixturesDundee United Vs.
