Kelly Clark was the match winner in the dying seconds, with the captain popping up at the back post from a corner to score an important goal at the death. Rounding off what has been a busy week, the Ghirls were in action for the third time, making the trip to Petershill Park. Partick Thistle were the opponents, with Grant Scott’s side aiming to pick up their first three points in the split. The match got off to the perfect start for the Celts, opening the scoring inside the opening few moments. It was Kelly Clark who also got the scoring underway, scoring with an unique finish to give Celtic the lead. As the defender looked to find Emma Lawton with a long ball over the top, the full-back couldn’t quite reach the delivery from deep into the box. However, Lawton did enough to put off the on-rushing goalkeeper, with the ball landing in the bottom corner, putting Celtic ahead early on. Despite the positive start, that lead wouldn’t last long, with the home side quickly levelling things up just five minutes later. Erin Rennie capitalised on a loose ball in the midfielder, producing a superb first-time strike, which gave Lisa Rodgers no chance. Quickly, the Ghirls were looking to bounce back from the disappointment of being back level in the game. In from the start for the second consecutive game, Poppy Pritchard was aiming to cause trouble with her pace in behind the Thistle defence. Latching onto a superb ball by Saoirse Noonan, the striker went through one-on-one, but the goalkeeper was out quickly to deny the forward. The Celts also had a series of corners, which looked to cause danger in the Thistle box. The closest they came to getting back in front was from an Evie Rabjohn header, which was cleared off the line. Heading into the second half, Celtic continued to put on the pressure to try and fire themselves back into the lead. Amy Gallacher tried her luck with an effort from distance, whilst both Pritchard and Noonan also seen strikes saved by the goalkeeper. Finally, the breakthrough came once more for Celtic, with around 13 minutes left to play as Maria McAneny popped up with another goal. A free kick sent into the box, was headed back across by Noonan, and McAneny was quickest to react, lifting the ball over the goalkeeper to put Celtic ahead once more. There was also another positive following the goal, with Shannon McGregor making her return from injury and marking her first appearance of the season. With the game entering the closing stages, the Ghirls were handed another blow as Partick Thistle levelled up the game again in the final minute of regular time. A superb free kick from Olivia King, once again gave Rodgers no chance, finding the top corner from around 25 yards out. It appeared that Celtic were headed for their third draw in a week, after taking away a point against both Hibs and Glasgow City. However, up stepped Kelly Clark, to score her second of the game and produce what could be a hugely important winner. The skipper latched on to Claire Walsh’s flick on, nodding home from close range at the back post to hand Celtic all three points in dramatic fashion. With the Hoops winning the game late on, that result takes Celtic into second place in the league, 4 points behind league leaders Glasgow City. Next up for the Ghirls is a trip to the Oriam, on Wednesday, April 1, with a brief break from action until their visit to the capital.FixturesPartick Thistle Women Vs.
