The start of the 2025/26 campaign has been a positive one for Celtic FC Women, and many members of the squad, With three wins from three, and another big game on the horizon this weekend, the mood is high around the camp. One player who has enjoyed a strong start to the campaign is Lisa Rodgers, who has taken up the position between the sticks so far this season for the Ghirls. With three games for the season under her belt, Rodgers has kept two clean sheets in the victories over Hamilton Accies and Partick Thistle. Although just 19-years-old, Rodgers has been a Celtic player for around a year and a half now, picking up plenty of great experience along the way. During that time, the goalkeeper has become a character within the dressing room, with some close friendships to her team-mates. This week, the youngster sat down with Celtic TV to discuss the start to the season and other topics, including her time with the Hoops so far. Reflecting on those 19 months so far at Paradise, Rodgers insisted she has loved every minute, getting to come in and work alongside some of her best friends, on the pitch. She said: “It’s been a really good time so far with Celtic. I’ve loved every minute of being here. I think it took a while for me to settle in at first. “To settle in with all the girls and the standard in training. In my first season, we obviously won the league, the second season I then started playing a bit more. ‘Now this season, it’s been a lot better again with that game time and performances. So, I’m loving it!’ “I think it always takes time, especially when you are young. I think when you come into it, it’s a great feeling once you enjoy being part of the squad. “It’s an honour to show up every day and play football with your best friends and call it a job. “I think that is what I love most about being here. I get to come in every day, with all my best friends, and just play football.”Of course, between the staff and players, there are many important relationships. However, some may argue there aren’t many closer than the goalkeepers and the goalkeeping coach. Working alongside the likes of Chloe Logan and Adelaide Gay, there is plenty that Rodgers will learn from. Even more so when you throw goalkeeper coach, Scott Fox into the mix, who Rodgers holds a strong relationship with. As she looked back at what has been a successful start to the season, Rodgers reflected on the work that has been put in on the training pitch. Now, she is just looking forward to building upon those early performances between the sticks, starting with the visit of Rangers on Sunday. “Foxy is great with all the goalkeepers,” she said. “He has a great relationship with all of us. He helps us grow and develop more and more. “He is such a great guy and he’s really great with me. He understands me as a person, and a player. “I think that’s the most important thing for a coach is to understand your players personally because you are a person, before you are a player. ‘He does a really great job at that.’ “To come in and get three starts, it’s the first time I have done that in the league. So, I’m really happy with that. “But I think it’s really important for me to try and stay focused and take things game-by-game because I’ve got players like Chloe Logan and Adelaide right there. “They’ve got so much experience and great goalkeepers too. So, it’s been a really good start, but we need to keep on going now.” Join the Journey – Season tickets still avaliable online After making it three wins from three with victory over Partick Thistle, the Ghirls return to New Douglas Park this Sunday.
