Brendan Rodgers and his Celtic team travelled back from Paisley with another three goals, another three points and another SPFL clean sheet to show for their efforts in horrendous wind and rain. Aside from adapting to the elements, the Celts also adapted to the game-plan of St Mirren, and an early goal from Callum McGregor set the side on the road to a 3-0 win with further goals from Reo Hatate and Alistair Johnston. The manager said: “It was an awful day but the players showed their concentration levels. ‘It was a very good start to the game and really pleased with how we played against St Mirren’s system.’ “Stephen organises his team so well, but we played the system well because it’s a switching game and when you pay against the 5-3-2 you’ve got to go down one side and come out the other, and a couple of our goals came from that. “So I’m pleased with that aspect and how we concentrated on the game.”Despite the driving wins and rain, it was a real day to remember for 18-year-old Belfast Bhoy, Francis Turley, who came on in the 88th minute to make his debut for Celtic. The manager said: “It’s fantastic to say that you’ve played for Celtic and he understands the work that he needs to do. “He was very, very good over the course of pre-season, he’s got a lot of work to do physically in his development, and that will come with both him working and natural maturation. “But at 18 he’s got a great football brain, and that’s a nice reward for him and his family, and he can now keep pushing to get more appearances.” The manager also hailed the travelling support, who, in horrendous weather, still backed the team for the 90-plus minutes He said: “A shout out to the supporters. To come here today and travel in that weather, and for them to be active and loud for the whole game really pushed the team, so a big thank you to them for turning up.”Watch the full post-match interview to hear the manager on: Reo Hatate Callum McGregor Next week’s Glasgow derby FixturesSt. Mirren Vs.
