Celtic have arrived in Belgrade ahead of tomorrow night’s UEFA Europa League Matchday One encounter against FK Crvena Zvezda. The Hoops go in to the match after a resounding 4-0 victory over Partick Thistle in the League Cup quarter final on Sunday afternoon, a win which Brendan Rodgers said showcased the developing fluidity and rhythm in the team. The Celtic manager spoke to the media at the Rajko Mitić Stadium in Belgrade this evening, and highlighted that development again as he praised the team’s spirit ahead of their Europa League opener. “We’re building,” he said. “We have new guys coming in who are understanding how we work and how we play. “The team are finding the new connections again which may seem easy, but it’s not. “But I’m really seeing the connections in the team improving. ‘The spirit in the team is very strong. We have a bunch of really good guys who want to do really well in their Celtic careers.’ “We’re really looking forward to this competition. If you look at the eight games we have, there are some great teams. “It’s a great challenge for us to be in it, and we’re really focused on doing well in this competition.”Celtic’s Europa League opponents have enjoyed a positive start to their season, and currently sit top of the Serbian SuperLiga, two points ahead of their rivals, Partizan Belgrade, who they beat 2-1 at the weekend. Despite the confidence that the home side will have going into the match, Brendan Rodgers says that his team will relish the challenge that lies ahead. He added: “They have an experienced team with some really good players. “They’ve won seven games out of seven domestically, so they’re in good form and I’m sure they’ll want to do well in this competition also. “it’s going to be a good test for us but we’re ready and up for that challenge to show our mentality and our footballing qualities. “In any European game, you have to go away and earn your results.” Manager’s full press conference Ambitions for UEFA Europa League campaign Importance of the Celtic support Development of the team Using last season’s European experience Colby Donovan’s personality Dealing with the big atmosphere in Belgrade Kick-off in Belgrade is at 8pm (CPT) tomorrow, and you can follow all the build-up and action on our Official Match Centre.FixturesCrvena Zvezda Vs.
