Manager: It’s another good point but we could have taken all three

Celtic have now gained nine points from their six UEFA Champions League games to date after drawing 0-0 away to Dinamo Zagreb, and it was another clean sheet on the road for the Hoops, having also secured a goal-less draw in Italy against Atalanta. Brendan Rodgers knows that it is a good point for his side as they look to progress in the tournament, although the Celtic manager admitted that it was also perhaps an opportunity missed to take all three points. Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, he said: “From collating the points, it’s another positive point for us and from a defensive perspective it was really good, but I thought the game in the final third lacked quality. “We had enough possession and we built the game well into the final third but either it broke down or we didn’t quite make the pass or we gave it away. “So I just thought the quality of our game this evening wasn’t at the standard that we would like. “I think we missed an opportunity this evening, if I’m being honest, to win the game. We needed to do more in the attacking side of the game.“We’ve seen all season that the team is set up to attack but, of course, at this level you’re playing against a level of quality that makes it difficult. “But we showed that we’re very robust and hard to play through. We had enough of the ball and it was just a case of playing with a greater level of quality when we arrived in there, and a bit more patience because I think we tried to attack always on the first run or the first pass, so we had to sustain it a little bit more. “But for effort, commitment, for Champions League away from home, it’s a really good point for us. ‘We’d have loved to have given the supporters the victory for making it all the way out here but they’ve seen the team taking a step closer to that qualification.’ It was also a night when Callum McGregor made his 100th European appearance for the club, with only James Forrest and Scott Brown having played more times in Europe for Celtic. And his manager praised the leadership qualities which are so beneficial to the squad. “He coaches really well within the game and he’s that reference for the team,” Brendan Rodgers said. “His experience allows you to control the game and he did very well in that aspect. He’s a brilliant player for this squad, a great captain and congratulations to him.”
