Celtic’s pre-season fixture schedule draws to a close this week as the Bhoys get set to take part in the Como Cup, a four-team tournament taking place on the banks of Lake Como. The Celts will face last season’s Eredivisie runners’ up Ajax tomorrow evening (Thursday, July 23) live on Celtic TV, with the winner guaranteed a place in the final on Sunday. And ahead of tomorrow night’s match, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says that he is looking forward to more quality tests in the lead up to the Celts’ league opener against St Mirren. Speaking to Celtic TV at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, the host venue for the tournament, Brendan said: “It’s a beautiful setting and we’re really looking forward to being here. “It’ll bring to an end the games in our pre-season, which have been designed to build in intensity and quality. ‘We’re glad that we’ve come here and we’ve got two good games that will test us.’ “I’m so looking forward to playing Ajax in the first game. They’re a historical club just like ourselves who produce some really good players. “They’ll play a real good style of football so it will be a good test for us.” SUBSCRIBE TO CELTIC TVThe entire Celtic family was saddened to hear of the passing of Lisbon Lion, John Fallon yesterday at the age of 84. John spent 14 years in the green and white and played his part in helping the club to numerous successes, including the European Cup in 1967. And speaking to Celtic TV this evening, Brendan Rodgers paid his own tribute to the late Celtic legend. “First of all, condolences to John’s family,” Brendan said. “I seen him just before the end of the season. “I invited him to come up to Lennoxtown with a few of his friends and I got the chance to speak to him. ‘Right to the very end, Celtic was in his heart.’ “I know how big a Celtic supporter he was. He travelled home and away and I know he was even trying to get to the game in Cork. “He was an incredible guy and he will always be remembered.”FixturesAFC Ajax Vs.
