Maria McAneny: It’s always a good feeling to score for Celtic

With four goals in her last three home matches, New Douglas Park has proved a popular ground for Maria McAneny in recent weeks. Albeit the game on Halloween might have technically been classed as an away match against Hamilton Accies, but the 21-year-old has showcased her knack for popping up with a goal in South Lanarkshire. It has been another impressive campaign so far for the Academy graduate, who played her part in the 2-0 win over Partick Thistle on Sunday. Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, McAneny reflected on the performance, insisting it was important to get all three points. Although the midfielder knows there are aspects the team can can improve on, she was delighted to be contributing in front of goal once more. “It was important to get the three points, and obviously the clean sheet. But as a whole, we know there are definitely things we can improve upon. “Especially going into after the international break, so I think that is what we are going to aim to do. “Lisa (Rodgers) played a great pass for Amy G, and Saoirse (Noonan) played a really nice pass to me. So, in terms of that, the goals were really good.“We had different scorers again. I think that is something that we don’t lack in this team. ‘It’s always a good feeling scoring. That is what I want to do – I want to contribute.’ “So, hopefully I can just keep that up and keeping doing that as the season progresses. “Keeping that clean sheet was important and always is too. I think that really showed today.” “It’s always good to get a refresh over the international break, so we are looking forward to that now.”FixturesCeltic Women Vs.
