Celtic’s busy fixture schedule continues with a trip to Germany to face Stuttgart on Thursday before making the journey across the Clyde for a Glasgow derby at Ibrox on Sunday. Last week’s first leg against Stuttgart at Celtic Park saw the Hoops suffer a disappointing 4-1 defeat, but Martin O’Neill says that his side want to be competitive in this week’s second leg. Speaking to Celtic TV ahead of the Hoops’ departure for Germany, the Celtic manager looked ahead to Thursday’s game and explained that while the result in the derby on Sunday will be significant, there will still be a long way to go in the title race. “We want to go there (to Germany) and compete.” Martin said. “You don’t want to throw things away, so we’ll go and compete and have a look at it. “The result (at Ibrox) will be very important, and if the result comes with a great performance, then that’s terrific. ‘In the past you would have said that the matches between Celtic and Rangers were really important at this stage.’ “But, because there are other sides around now who wouldn’t fear going to Celtic Park, Ibrox or Tynecastle and getting a result, there are teams who are capable of beating each other. “It’s very important to stay in this by winning football matches but there is still a distance to go after Sunday.”Martin O’Neill’s full interview is available to watch exclusively on Celtic TV.
